Hey guys. I took the boat out over the holiday weekend, first time since striper season in January. Full tank of gas with Startron fuel/ethanol treatment at the last fill up in January. Anyway, no problems with the motor ran fine as usual, but when I went to link it out I noticed when it got to 4600 rpms I heard what sounded like spark knock and noticed at the same time the rpms would drop while it was spark knocking, maybe 200-300 rpms. Is this due to the knock sensor retarding the timing?

Also, what should I do about this....I assume the gas dropped in quality over the winter months, so should I add some octane booster and top the tank off with 93?

I'm going to change the fuel filter/separator to make sure it is not water causing this?

Could this be a result of the ethanol blended fuels?

thanks
Keith

Ethanol, no doubt has something to do with it...
