Hey guys I have a 1978 Merc 150 V-6 and last time out it started running like poo, couldnt get out of its own way, but idled perfect. I took the carbs off cleaned them all out brand new gaskets and whatnot inside, and as I got it back together I decided to check the plugs and noticed im not getting spark to the right side of the engine if your standing behind it. Im not really sure on where to start with this so im looking for any help?

Im thinking its probably in those switch boxes? As I dont see 3 coils just going bad all at once. This motor is all original has the idle box on it still, and all that jazz.

Looking for some direction to start at?

Side note I switched the red with the red/white wire and the blue with the blue/white wire and still had no spark on the same side, it didnt move sides so to speak. Does that narrow it down any?

Got it running with a new switch box, man with the new box and carbs so clean id drink out of them, all timed and synched right this thing is a whole different engine LOL

Re: Spark on left side only (V6)

Well I read some previous posts and switched out the switch box and now I have fire on 5 cylinders but still no go on #1 cylinder. So after dinner im going to switch some wires around and see if its a bad coil.

Im kind of glad I kept this old blown up 115 I-6 because alot of parts work on my V6 LOL I lucked out on the switch boxes and I have 1 left
