Spark one day...no spark the next day

Hi everyone. I'm having issues with my 1977 70hp Johnson. Started it up in the drive-way with muffs the other day. Started up nice, sounded nice. I thought to myself...cool! This motor has been the best motor I've ever had. So reliable and dependable. Took it to launch for the first cruise of the season. Went to start it and nothing, nothing and nothing. Would not start. Put it back on the trailer, went home. Put the muffs back on and still nothing. Checked a few things. Everything looked and checked out good. Finally checked for spark....no spark on any plugs. Is this common? Spark one day and then no spark the next. A friend of mine says it might be a bad power pack(?). Is there any way to test the power pack. Any help or ideas would be great and appreciated. Thanks.

just for kicks might want to disconnect the kill wire at the engine and see if you get spark back. I assume that model has at least 2 coils... strange to think they both could go out at once. so thinking kill wire, or switch box.

Thanks for the suggestion Sean. Where is the kill wire on the engine? Color? Switch box, I assume you mean ignition switch(key)?

Never overlook strange things that could happen, you can find the procedures for testing power packs here on the forum by doing a search.
