Spark only on one side of motor

Hello all,

I have a '90 175 Evinrude 25" motor. I'm only getting spark on one side of the motor (port).

What could the possible causes be?

I have a spare power pack that i tried swapping, but had the same issue. I also bought a spare stator/charge coil on ebay and tried that too but the motor wont even start with that stator (it may be a bad stator).

anyway, just wondering if someone could tell me the possible things it might be so i can start going down the list eliminating things. Could it be the timing base/sensor coil?

The powerpack and stator i have on the motor now seem pretty newer. They are both CDI Electronic components.

A service manual will help you a lot. Does that motor have the S.L.O.W. system? If so, that kills spark to 1/2 the cylinders.
