Have a question regarding the number of times you can check/remove your spark plugs before the washer is usless. I like to keep a close eye on what's happening inside the cylinders and look at plugs quite a bit - the only problem i find is that the NGK plug washer gets crushed down and i begin to lose the seal and even get some oil blowing out due to a bad seal. It almost seems like it's ruined on the second installation - even when i'm careful about how far i've tightened the plug in. Is there a way to put on new washers or a better way to tighten so as not to crush the washer - or do you just change 'em every second or third look? Just wondering what everyone else does out there?

Some washer s are actually called crush -washers and need to be replaced each time they are taken off.the crushing makes the seal.Usually you can reuse them one time by turning it over.Charlie

Thanks Charlie - do they typically sell those at the parts store?

Be very careful about changing the washers on spark plugs. Most "crush washers" are soft aluminum or copper and may not be the correct kind of sealing washer for your plugs...Q

I'd be more worried about the threads in the head than the SP washer.
