Need the gap size for the spark plugs on this engine?
Also, the engine is bogging down when put under a load. Could this be from the spark plugs themselves? The old ones look like the gapping is off and pretty dirty!
Thanks Deuce

I would recommend doing a decarb first and then replacing the plugs. Decarbs work wonders. I like Valvetec in a spray can available at any local boating store or westmarine.com and boatersworld.com

Hey Fish....Not to be stupid or anything but could you explain what this decarb is! I'm no motor head so I would appreciate any hints!
It sounds like some kind of spray?
Thanks Deuce

I still need the spark plug gapping ...and if it's not to much trouble could you tell me where to locate the carbs......I checked the fuel filter and that seems to look good.Is the carb under the fuel filter?

Thanks
Deuce

Deuce. Decarb is sold in cans (spray) and also a fuel additive. I like the spray.

This is how you use it.

Start your motor and get it warmed up to normal tempature. Now spray the decard into each carb throat while the engine is running. I have 3 carbs, but you may have more or less -I don't know.

Anyway - as you are spraying the decarb in increase to a faster idel. (you can use your other hand to rev the engine from inside) The engine will want to die as you spray this stuff in, but don't let it just yet.

The engine will also smoke like heck, but don't worry.

Now after you have used the entire can shut the motor off and let it sit for about a half an hour.

Now start it back up and rev slightly higher than normal for a few minutes. Again - the engine will smoke like heck and smell.

After you are fininshed CHANGE the plugs. I don't know you gap, but you should be able to find it online.

The decarb will clean the carbs, free up stuck rings and make the engine run 100% better.

You should do this at least twice a year. The decarb runs about $8.00 a can.

Good luck.
