Spark Plug Head Problem

I bought a new 3.0 mercruiser inboard for my boat I placed it into my boat this week and all I have left is the spark plugs come to find out my spark plugs do not fit.. the threaded area is a larger hole than the spark plug any one heard of such a thing all the part numbers I have looked up seems to be the standard plug>>>><br /><br />Any ideas??????

yep, you have the older head that uses "#44 or #45 spark plugs, 13/16ths socket needed

thanks what do you mean by 44, 45 is that the part number? which spark plug maker

those numbers signify the heat range of the plug.later plugs are R42T,R42TS,MR42T etc.<br />those are Champion numbers higher the numnber ,hotter the plug.
