Spark plug leads

Good day Gentlemen and of course Ladies!<br />This has probably been asked many times before but could anyone tell me if there is any difference between the HT leads on an outboard and those used on a car? My Bigtwin is missing slightly and in order to rectify the problem I have put new plugs in and want to change the HT leads just incase they may be at fault. I put new coils and points in recently so I am assuming that the problem lies elsewhere.<br />Regards<br />Tich

Marine wires must be solid copper core....

Big difference. Automotive leads are usually of a resistor type. Outboard leads are stranded copper wire. If you can't find that at a marine dealer, try an auto supply or a small engine (lawnmower) dealer.

What about the caps that go onto the plugs, are they the same as on a car or are they different as well?

I think the boots are about the same as those you'd see on say old Chevy and Ford V8s. The leads for outboards my local wrench sells are Hypalon with the copper wire. Cars are graphite core and resistor like Willy said. <br /><br />They're inexpensive compared to automotive.
