Spark plug leads

Hi guys!<br />Quick question if I may! The caps that push onto the spark plugs on my 64 BTwin appear to be of the moulded type which are part of the actual HT leads. Is this done for a reason other than to reduce the chance of moisture getting into the caps? The reason for my question is that I have been able to source some solid core leads (from a local marine outlet) but they dont have the caps attached and I was wondering if I could use ordinary screw in caps as used on a car. I am sure that someone will tell me that automotive caps are, for some reason, not suitable for use on an outboard but I need to ask the question.<br />As always any assistance would be appreciated.

Nothing special with the plug boots. Use auto ones ... they should be fine.

The caps I like to use are molded NGK motorcycle caps with nice rubber seals. These have good tight fit BUT -- if they have a resistor it needs to be removed.

the bosch ones are teh stuff.. pricey though

The connector you need is a coil spring with a sharp, bent tail on the end that stab's through the plug wire, and then has a rubber boot. OMC use'd this for year's. Use that, any dealer has them.
