I have a 1970 85hp evinrude and it has NGK BUHW plugs in it and it calls for B7HS NGK's but it runs good with the exception of the hot light on now so I think I need to rebuild the water pump, but what is the difference between these plugs because I like that the BUHW doesn't need gaped at all and the other does.

Re: Spark Plug question

The BRP site posts that engine with surface gap plugs and the L19V and AC V4OFF have crossed over to a Champion L76V. The B7HS is a adjustable gap plug which I do not recomend you use. Also replace that impeller ASAP!!!

Re: Spark Plug question

Thanks, that is what I have in there then so it is right and yes I have ordered my water pump kit and will go from there and hopefully it cures it. Does this motor have a thermostat 85093d?
