Re: Spark Plug recommendations...

You need to have the engine checked for any codes that may be present in the computer system.

There is a check valve right under the throttlebody on the right hand side that has a rubber hose on it. This hose routes to the VST (vapor seperator tank) on the back of the engine. Unplug the hose from the check valve and with another length of hose attached to the check valve see if you can suck air thru it. If you can the check valve is bad and drawing fuel into the intake causing a flooding problem.

Bondo, what happened to the "mugshot"?

Well I went to the site, they recomended NGK with a .039" gap. Oh the controversy! I just pulled my factory plugs on my 4.3GXi-F they were AC Delco non-standard plug( I don't know if they are irridium or platium, they do have a wire center electrode) They have been in there for 50 or 60 hours and all the gaps were over .065" And on it goes.

OLD THREAD

donnymac, first of all, the question WAS about a 5.0, not a 4.3. You also have a lot newer engine. So what is good for your 4.3 is not good for someone elses older 5.0.
Compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges.

oops, didn't even realize the date. Fact of the matter is I wasn't comparing anything to anything. I use NGK in everything I own because I believe they make a better plug than Champion or AC IMHO. I pulled the factory plugs out of my engine and replaced them with NGK. Just because a company recomends something doesn't mean it its a law. Both Champion and AC make an inferior product, similar North American cars versus Japanese. Just opions not comparisons.
