How can I tell what plugs go in my engine? Or does it matter? Wal-Mart sells several types of Marine spark Plugs. Is there a difference? I don't want to just go by what's already in my engine because my Dad put them in years back (and didn't run it) and I don't know if he knew what he was doing or not :)

Thanks,

Shane

Shane,

What's the engine Make, Model, and Horsepower?

I'm sure someone here will have a reference guide that should set you in the right direction.

REx

WOW!! Yes, Turtle there is a BIG difference among good marine spark plugs. The wrong plug can destroy your engine, foul in minutes, or even refuse to run your engine.

Be sure to determine the correct Champion plug for your engine and use it, exclusively.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Re: Spark Plug Types??

I appreciate the replies. I just went out to check what was in my engine right now. They are Champion plugs: UL81C. That doesn't mean anything to me right now (since my knowledge of plugs is nil). Might this account for my engine idling rough and missing periodically while underway????

Thanks,

Shane

Apparently the L4J Champion plug is not made anymore. Is there anyway of finding out what the comparable plug is today. The comparrison chart on clubplug.net doesn't list it. I also can't find it on any of the champion sites. Does anyone have the same motor I have? If so, what plugs are you using????

Shane
