I know on some motors the wires screw into the distributor cap / coils.----Not sure on your motor.-----Why do you want to replace them ?

just having constant cold starting problems, trying to eliminate inexpensive possibilities. No distributor on this model.

Well , yes I know there is no distributor on your YAMAHA-----Review your starting procedure.------I do not believe plug wires will help one little bit !!------Explain how you try and start your motor in detail.----And how long have you owned it ? .----Any trouble shooting done ???

Are you talking about removing the spark plug lead from the spark plug itself?

No----- he wants to replace plug wires in the hope that it will fix " cold start " issues.

More likely the cold starting issue is something with the enrichening device and/or your starting procedure......leave the plug wires alone for now...

I get the part about the OP wanting to replace the spark plug leads. What I am not getting is his question about how to remove them. Remove them from what or where?

The cap from the spark plug?
The cap from the ignition lead?
The ignition lead from the coil?
The coil from the motor?
Or ???

Have you checked for spark on the plug end? If you have a good, strong spark that jumps 3/8" or more, look for some other cause.

What is your starting procedure? Maybe it needs to be different for a cold start.

Clean plugs, check if gaped to specs or replace all of them and test again..
