Replacing wire set on the boat.... '86 Mercruiser 470 - $46 from the marina... $30 Amazon... or can I just use a good quality Bosch set from Autozone for a 4 cylinder ($25 and quicker)???

$19 spread? that's about 4 minutes worth of gas
plug wires are not marine specific - if the autozone ones fit, they will work. if they don't fit, $19 savings turns into a big pain in the butt

You do realize the 470 was never an automotive engine don't you? Be tough to find an automotive set for something that never was automotive.

Pretty decent price at the marina once you consider you'll probably spend around $10 to have them shipped from just about anywhere online, even if you get them for $30 like on Amazon or ebasicpower. Then you're only spending a few extra bucks which is worth it considering there is no wait time with getting the parts locally (if they are in stock??)

You also have to take into consideration on the shipping if you need to purchase anything else online at the same time. That's when you'll get a better deal on the shipping. Ship one item for $10 or two items for $13, ya know? Usually I've been putting off buying a few things so I can order them all at once and save on shipping costs. Just a thought...

If price is not your main consideration you might want to check out this supplier:

They make an excellent, no BS product, and will custom fit for minimal if any extra charge. Service is second to none.

I thought he made it pretty clear that price was indeed the main concern, along with delivery speed.
I like the link though.
cool looking wires over there . good reference info at that site. I like the pics of failed wires from various issues - like battery acid damage etc..

I have ordered before from magnecor for my land rover cables. I agree about service and product.

But they are truly expensive.
