I have the 2004 125 merc I have had it for 14yrs in salt and fresh. Taken well care of A little compulsive in some areas. Like the spark plugs I only use the manufacturer recommended ngk. And usually change them twice a year. "I use the the boat all year. " My question is here what is causing this. I think it's time to replace the wires but could be wrong.

That is just some corrosion on the spark plug shell.

You can spray the plug shell and the engine block with some corrosion guard to slow it down.
Changing spark plugs once every few years is really all you need to do.

You have a small water drip from the t-stat/poppet or water jacket onto plug
