1968 Evinrude Starflite 100s model#100883b...the plugs that were in it when I got it last fall are L76V's but the manual says for the 100hp it should have V40ffxv's. It run a bit rough after it warms up. could the plugs be the problem? I tried a few places with no luck for v40ffxv's is there a NK equivatent? one last ? if I find and put new plug's in do I need to change any setting ie: points or sensor gaps.

Specs;why would the manual call for something differant? the pre 68s say j4j for 80hp and down. but the 68 and 67 100hp it say's v40ffx I'm confused.

For a 1968 100 hp Evinrude the chart I'm looking at calls for L78V surface gap plug for sustained high speed operation or QL77JC4 gapped at .030"

I don't know what manual your have.<br />What I gave you is right out of the Cylmer manual for 66-69 100 hp V-4.

getting started,Don't know if the L76V will work fine or not ,but the chart calls for them on the later than 1968 model 100 hp.1967-68 lists the L78V surface gap.It has been my experience that if you don't primarily use your boat at sustained high speed operation that you will be better off with the QL77JC4 plugs gapped at.030"The surface gap tend to wet foul used at lower speeds.
