spark plugs ???

the manual says to u chapion (L77J4) the mercury web site says to use (QL77JC4) go with the manual or the web site? if the manual is wrong about the plug what about the correct gap w/ they say is .040 ?......and what about stainless marine plugs y/n are they the same.then on the other hand my motor from used dealer has (L76V) ...also I can make my own spark plug wires from scratch any ideas on wire thickness,what about high perfomance auto wires sould be ok?
