I have a 1993 Evinrude 150 hp. Serial # VE150GLETG and I cannot figure out what to use for spark plugs. Every book I look in gives me a different plug. If someone will help and let me know first of all what brand to go with, and second what plug number in that brand, it would help me a lot. Do you think there is a better brand than others? The motor is on a 18 foot Stratos bass boat that I run wide open alot. Thanks for any help. Should I just call Evinrude? Where do you look to find what plugs to use?

Re: Spark Plugs

What sort of suggestions are you getting, from where, Scott?

All OMC outboards were designed to use Champion plugs. That should narrow it a bit.

I will leave it to the V6 experts to recommend a particular number.

Re: Spark Plugs

We'll assume the motor is stock and as produced and you're using 87 octane. As per Fazt's chart and suggestion you can use the QL78YC.

Those motors are pretty sensitive about combustion temps. Taking today's fuel into consideration I prefer the cushion of the slightly cooler QL77JC4 plug in all my 60* motors.
