spark plugs

hey guys i just bought a 72 searay with 250 inline 6.i was gonna change the spark plugs so i took the number off a plug that was in it and went to get new ones and the guy at the counter ( napa---closest to me) said that these are not the plugs for that engine....can some one please tell me the proper one and the best one to buy.....please help......thank you

they said an autolite number 25 was te correct one...is that close

Well, I'll try again. In short, there may be a reason for a different plug since the engine was built for trucks and all and don't run at WOT in a marine environment for extended periods.

If the engine was running good, and the insulators are tan, I'd stay with what you pulled out.

if you have any boating place local not a chain boating store just a family store or some thing like that there better off telling you what plug to put in it. i went to a person that fixes outboards he looked up the motor and got me the right plug that napa couldn't get me.

Hey everyone...i got the plugs and they are 25 by autolite...thank you for the input...gonna take it out tomorrow and see how it does...

i went a head and did a complete go thru and it was tbe 25 autolite plug now it purrrrs like a champ...thanks for all the input...
