2003 225hp ficht {dfi}
Looking at the motor from the rear when indexing plugs using the clock method. The 3 plugs on the starboard should be indexed between 3 and 6 o'clock correct me if I'm wrong.
Are the plugs on the port side also indexed between 3 and 6 or are they indexed between 6 and 9 o'clock ????
And this might take 2-3 times trying to screw the plugs, right??
Can you be a little bit out side the indexed area like 1/8th or 1/4 inch ??
How crucial is it to be inbetween???

:) Thank You ;)

Re: Spark Plugs

It comes up for me. You'll need Acrobat Reader 5.0 or greater to read it. That's freely downloadable, by the way.

Re: Spark Plugs

All Ficht engines require indexing. The open end of the J-Gap is oriented towards the fuel injector. 3:00 on the port bank and 9:00 on the starboard bank. This provides smooth idle and acceleration off idle. It has nothing to do with pistion burning. It helps prevent pre-mature plug fouling. Gap plugs to .028 the spec calls for .030
