For a quickie tester, get some old spark plugs and break off the ground electrode. Use a small hose clamp to hold a piece of wire to the plug threads and put an alligator clip on the other end.<br /><br />Now you can hook up the tester to a plug wire and the clip to a good ground. Crank the motor and see if the spark jumps from the center electrode to the metal shell. You can make up a tester for each cylinder, since they are so easy and cheap.
