Re: SPARK TESTER ? ? ? ?

For a quickie tester, get some old spark plugs and break off the ground electrode. Use a small hose clamp to hold a piece of wire to the plug threads and put an alligator clip on the other end.

Now you can hook up the tester to a plug wire and the clip to a good ground. Crank the motor and see if the spark jumps from the center electrode to the metal shell. You can make up a tester for each cylinder, since they are so easy and cheap. This was from an old issue of Bass and Walleye Boats magazine.

I bought a spark tester at walmart today. While the engine is running you put it up against the spark plug wire you want to check. It looks just like a screwdriver except it has a little light inside. The light is very small so if it is bright outside you need to cup your hand over the end of the tester so you can see the light. Anyway $6 at walmart!

Shane
