I would appreciate receiving information on the proper sparkplug, brand and gap, if gap is required, to put in this engine. Your advice will be appreciated.
The OMC manual recommends a Champion QL77JC4 gapped .030. Alternate is L77JC4 gapped .030. For sustained high speed operation, Champion QUL77V [fixed gap].
Rick and Jack, thanks very much for your replys and informtion. Rick, that spark plug web site is terrific. I made a copy of the chart and it certainly will come in handy. Thanks again.
Can one of the OMC gurus confirm what Clymer's says about their recommendation.

I have a 1989 Evinrude 150 which will be used very little for trolling. Mostly WOT or skiing and tubing.

The Clymer Manual suggests the QL77JC4 at .030 for sustained low-speed operation. It suggests the QUL774 (fixed gap) for sustained high-speed operation.

What are the expert's opinions on this board for the type of plug that should be used in this model motor? According to what the manual says, I'd be inclined to go with the QUL774 fixed gap plugs.

What are the pros and cons?

Thanks!
