Re: SPDT, DPDT, SPST, DPST switches?

Thanks Glenn, I have all the switches already two dpdt and 3 spst carlings illuminated maintained like you mentioned. I ordered them last week as I could not find any 6 terminal switched in that line, I figured I would just rewire it as shown on a few web sites that use a seven terminal switch, I just need to figure out what wires go where.. , I have moved some of the switches to the other side of the dash since I removed the am/fm radio from the dash, I am keeping the Nav/ Anchor and Aerator switch in the original location and moving the Acces, Interior lights and Bilge to the right side so that they won't be so jammed together I also added a second Acces switch for the future. so now I will have the two DPDT side by side on the left side of the dash and four spst side by side on the right side of the dash. It looks so much cleaner this way. Thanks again for your help. Best regards, Jon

I have attached some sketchs I hope this will help as you can see the original dpdt had a terminal that I labeled as special.
On the spst you will see that A= power B= load and C was the ground for the light
on the dpdt you will see that E=power and can switch between F and G. E2 also can switch to F2 but it can not switch to the special terminal as that would be a short circuit as the special terminal is also the ground

on the 7 terminal you are getting I have draw the switchs as E=power and can go to either F or G. E2= power and can go to either F2 or G2 and the ground for the lights goes on the 7th terminal.

in the diagram if it shows 2 slashes that means the connector was piggy backed with another wire. The nav/anc light shows a jumper between E and E2 and a jumper between F and G2 I do not know if that is internal to the switch or if that was wires you removed. either way the terminals will have to have the jumpers installed to make the lights work correctly

I hope this helps

Re: SPDT, DPDT, SPST, DPST switches?

here is a picture of my new panel, finished it up tonight, will start wiring it up in the next day or so. I'm going to use jumpers on the four switches negative terminals with the end one going to the negative bar on the fuse panel. each of those will get it's proper positive and load wires. Then on to the left side which will be the 1) Nav/Anchor and the 2) Aerator manual/off/auto. these are the two that I will have to figure out since the old switches were 6 terminals.

Re: SPDT, DPDT, SPST, DPST switches?

Hi Glenn, all hooked up but I'm still a bit confused as to connecting the aerator wires, I can get it to work in manual mode but not in automatic. I have a seven terminal DPDT maintained switch to replace the original 6 terminal switch. Any ideas, I replaced all the wires to their original locations only adding a negative wire for the light in series with the other switches.

strange but switch 5 looks like it would never work as the red and green are dual on the same terminal and im sure that green is meant to be dual connected to the pump terminal with the brown orange.

Edit: after blowing up print I can now see that the red jumps the green so the green is connected to the brown/orange so the print is correct

The switch for the bilge pump is the original a 2 way (auto/manual) or a 3 way (auto/off/manual) as that's not clear on the print I think the terminals suggest that its a 2 way.

Re: SPDT, DPDT, SPST, DPST switches?

theres 2 ways to wire the switch.

timer.jpgtimer2.jpg

you should follow the one with the dpdt switch as that will make the light work correctly. On your print I think the orange/brown strip was connected to the fuse on the diagram it is labeled as brown. To pump on posted pic on your diagram was Brown/orange. watch the 2 wires are they both have orange and brown but the first color is the main the second is the strip so if you mess them up then the pump will only work in manual

Glenn, thanks so much, with this diagram I'm sure I can get it hooked up properly now. Again I really appreciate all your help, you got me through a tough spot for sure. Best regards, Jon
