Speaker Location

Where do you guys mount your stereo speakers? I have 2 additional 6x9's in enclosures that I mounted in front of the front seats, facing back, on the walls by your feet. You really can't hear them (the factory speakers are mounted on the dash).

I was thinking of mounting the enclosures under the very back seats (facing forward) on the floor. It is just open under the seats, but i would lose space that i currently throw a couple spare life jackets, or a small tool box.

Where do you guys mount yours? I am hesitant to cut into the side panels?

I own a 95' bayliner 1952 Capri Cuddy. I will try to attach a photo to explain what i'm talking about. I have 2x 5-1/4" (i think) speakers along the gunwale just aft of the back seats. They are origionals and i will be replacing them before next season, along with the headunit. Many people say to use marine grade speakers, but I will not be. The front seats sit on a fiberglass box filled with foam. In the spring time, I will be cutting a hole in this box and installing 2 10" clarion subwoofers.
One thing i may say is that when someone sits in the back seat, the sound is deadened because they are pressed up against it. I think i am going to install another set of 5-1/4" a little more torward the stern. Looks like you have a nice boat there, do you have any photos of the interior?
Whatever you do just plan ahead and take your time. I'm sure it will turn out good.

Using the side panels is a viable option, but only if you're sure you've got the room to mount a speaker and there's nothing behind that would prohibit their mounting.....hull, cables, etc.

seems like a respectable idea. a buddy a mine did that with his 19' bayliner capri. it sounds pretty good.

fwiw. a good quality indash is a must. myself, i got an auto panasonic. 4x50w. quailty speakers ditto. again, i got panasonics. 6 or 6.5'' all around. can't remember dia. but 6'' plus. coax.

looks like you have room to mount yer speakers in the side to me. at least it's a plausible it looks like. measurements would be in order. maybe make a panel to mount the speaker on and put it in the under gunnel storage?

my starboard fwd location. port similar.

aft port speaker location. starboard similar.

i didn't mount these, the previous owner did. but it worked out well. i have no issue hearing the stereo.
