Speaker placement on a pontoon

I'm asking this here, as you guys are toonies:

I have replaced all the seats on my 24? toon. Originally it had two 40? benches up front with arm rests on either side. Well one option of benches would be only a 36? with 9.5? arms on either side. I think that would be tight for 2 to sit, so I made two 56? benches on each side with no arm rests (It just fits). That means I will be placing 5.25? speakers in the benches, under the seats (hopefully no one kicks them!). Now these benches are open on the bottom (with grates) I was going to mount the speakers where these grates are (they would fit a 5.25? speaker) there would still be another opening, meaning the backs of the speakers won?t be sealed.

To get the stereo effects I thinking of placing 4 speakers -2 near the front, 2 near the back ( so 56? apart) but the front one would have the Left on the left side of the boat, the right on the right side, but for the back ones, the left would be on the right, and right on the left:

..........Front
___.............. __
|XX|R.........L|XX|
|XX|............|XX|
|XX|............|XX|
|__|L.........R|__|

.____
|___|

.______________
|_____________|

The idea being you get stereo sitting down, and also if you?re sitting at the back. Does this sound valid?

It really doesn't matter squat where or how you mount them. They are operating in free air and there are no acoustics. People on a toon are generally enjoying the fresh air, conversing, watching the kids swim or swimming themselves and could care less about the sound quality (or lack thereof).

I agree with Silver.

I spent time on radio and speaker discussion on a new boat I got, and now Im wondering why I made all the fuss. The radio and sound works well, but w talk to each for the time we are on boat and the music is more of a back drop than anything else.

Went out this past weekend and saw an eagle for several minutes flying overhead (one of two nesting in area). Music was furthest thing from our minds at that point.

Now having said all this, Im a new boater who is just glad to be out on the water. So make your own decision based on your needs and wants.

Too Many Questions.

Sound good. All I have left to do is install the radio ( it sounds like I don't really even have to worry about speaker polarity, as its wont make that much difference, just as long as it makes noise!).

I can see it now, my kid will take the toon out, drain the battery at the beach, and call to have me come get her. perhaps I should install 2 batteries. ( no this is not a high power radio, just the vanilla flavor one.)
