Speakers, enclosed them? Location ideas

Did some searching here and didn't find much.

Picked up some Jensen Speakers, (I know some will grown, good enough for my ringing ears)

Looking for a few tips. Is it best to enclose, or box them in. Or maybe a partial cover to protect it.

The other is looking for advice on locations. I have 2 existing speakers lower on each side of the CC and will look to replace those. Thinking the other two will end up going up front maybe. Any ideas on placement.

The Dodger will be moved up on the bow, below.

Any input is welcome.

this probably doesnt help you with yor center console, but i plan on boxing mine in under my consoles. Also thought about using another set by the transom under the splashwell or under the gunwale up front on both port and starboard sides. I know they are "marine" quality, but the more you can keep them out of the weather the better!

It looks like you have one spot already at the helm. As far as boxes, are they going to be a "permanent" fixture or are you planning on "removing" them after each trip?

I am running into the same issue for a sub location. I have read that if you are going to use an enclosure (wood), that you should glass it so it is water resistant, or, buy a specific water resistant enclosure. MDF is like a sponge when water touches it and then dissolves into mush and is not recommended for marine applications.

Thanks for the responses, BD and OC.

Permanent mount, looking at bow area with the second set. The best I have so far is all the way up under the bow cap, or under or partially out of the gunwale facing inward.

Looking to box in with plastic 1/2" thick box or maybe aluminum or stainless. Don't want wood and fg.

Might also have to look to see what's available for enclosures.

On one of the days above freezing I pulled off the boat cover. Looking at speaker location and how to mount.

Made a decision to mount the front speakers up by the bow cap. Pulled out some salvaged 1/2" thick plastic from the barn and made some mounting plates.

When it warms up these will be mounted, hung from the back side of the bow cap fascia. And yes the speakers are upside down. I want the connections up high, less chance of getting pulled on or damaged.
