I have a 1996 Bayliner Bowrider. Does anyone know if i can cut 6inch holes in the platforms whre the back to back lounge seats mount? Are these platforms hollow?

They are foam filled. Thats why they are not used as storage areas. You could cut into it, and remove some foam, but I'm not sure how much the flotation will be compromized and how well the speakers will sound.

Too Cut into those areas will not be easy as they are covered in fiber glass and as Mark mentioned they are filled completly with foam. Running the wire to the speaker would be another night mare in its self.

You may want to put the speakers in the bulkhead wall at the bottom of the consoles if you will and use the bow seating as speaker boxes. My new Byliner 185 has them set up that way and an old crestliner I had that had no stereo to begin with I did that way. Works very good!
