Special Lubricant 101

Getting my boat put away for the winter and while reading up on the lubrication requirements for the steering system the manual specifies Special Lubricant 101 for the steering cable end and the pivot bolts (see attached sketch).

This lubricant is quite expensive and as far as I can see the steering system is the only place it is required. Is this right? There's obviously a good reason for it but I would just like to know if others have found a cheaper alternative or if you are just using the 2-4-C marine lubricant with teflon?

Thanks!

For me, if it's a freshwater boat everything gets 24C, if it's salt it gets 101, but that's just me.
