Speedo inop on 81 Glastron.

Have a 1981 Glastron w/ a 1981 Merc and the speedo on the dash don't work. How and what do they work off of so I can check it out. Tach works fine.

It works on pressure from the pitot on the rear of the boat.

Chances are the tiny hole in the pitot is plugged. If that's open, the tube between the speedo and the pitot may be pinched. If it were broken you'd have water in the boat.

I am getting water under flooring and found a hose from the motor lower unit going to the inside of the boat is not connected and pumping water.

Hook that hose up to the to the tube that goes to your speedometer and your all set. Blow the water out of it first. Several motors have the speedometer pickup in the lower unit instead of useing a pitot pickup.
