I have a Mazda B2500, (4cyl Ford Ranger) and just all of the sudden today the ABS light turned on after the truck sat in the sun all day. Also, when driving, the speedometer is unresponsive anywhere below 50 mph, as is the odometer. While looking at the shop manual, both the ABS and Speedometer share the same sensor in the rear axel. I tried pulling the connecter and reconnecting it to see if there was a loose connection. Nothing changed. Is there anything else I should check before I replace that sensor?

The sensor is cheap......replace it.

Or leave it be and use a GPS to track your speed. This way you don't rack up any more miles on the odometer

and then of course the tranny doesn't know when to shift as it's not getting speed signals, the ABS won't work, the engine controls go into safe mode, codes store by the multitude, and a host of other problems.
