Hello All,

I recently bought a boat with twin 2002 Mercury Optimax 150 (BlueWater Series).

I noticed the speedometer hose hanging from the lower unit of the STB engine and I want to cut it (see picture). I really don't need the speedometer from the engine since I have a GPS unit. Can I just cut that little hose? I notice that the hanging piece of hose has an end cap (something that keeps the water from coming out when you run the engine). Do I need to put that cap on the hose to seal it after I cut it short?
I am just trying to cut it short (or push it inside the lower unit)
Thanks!!

Lou

Yeah. But if you have smart craft make sure you change it to gps and connect your nmea wires. Or your fuel computer etc won’t work.
