I have a Millenium Odyssey 20' pontoon with a 40HP Mariner Jet 30 3cyl 2 stroke outboard. When I got the boat the speedo pickup at the rear was broke off. I since replaced it and I blew out the tube from the pick up to the speedometer with it removed from the speedometer. The pick up is working fine, the tube is clear, and if I un hook it from the speedometer while running in the water... there is a steady but slow stream of water coming from the pick up tube. But when hooked to the speedometer it vary rarely moves. Sometimes you can tap it and get it to bounce up to 5-10 mph... but then it does not come down. However if I take force water through the pick up when out of the water the speedometer works fine. The pick up is at the welded location on the right side of the boat and it extended down about 3 inches below the float for the pontoon itself. Is it in a bad location? Could the speedometer be bad? I am at a loss for common answers on this one.
