Speedometer tube kit

I just bought a 1976 Starcaft 14ft that comes with old style speedometer with the tube cut off. I just wonder if anybody using it before and works ok. Thank you

Define "cut off." A fix could be as simple as running a new tube. Is there a pitot outside the boat? If you can get to the back of the speedo, and if you can get your lips around where the tube goes in you can test it by blowing into it. Those are basically an air pressure gauge. Easy to test.

I'm not sure what you're asking. If you blow into what's left of the tube, the speedometer needle should move a little (as long as the tubing doesn't leak). If this happens, order what you need right here.

No, I have the guage on the dash only. with about 2 inches left of a tube, I need to get the sensor piece that mouts on the back of the boat, Just wonder if this kind of speed pilot tube works ok, never seen one before, Thank you

Buy a cheap GPS unit and be done with it.

Speedo's on boats are NOT accurate and they are almost useless for true speed.

Click on the link NYBo provided and there is a universal Pitot kit from Faria that should work nicely for your setup. It's $9 plus shipping... likely your speedo is by Faria. Or do as SF said and go with a GPS unit.

They work ok usually start working good when you get up around 10mph. Not right on the money for exact speed but mine is close to gps speed. I just hate having any guage not working it bugs me so I like mine working if it is there it should work just my thoughts.

Mine have been very close to GPS speed, and if you boat in current then it is accurate for speed over the water. GPS is speed over the bottom

They can also be waaaay off, but I like having both.
