Speedometer

I have an 88 stratos with a 150 mercury xr2. When i bought the boat the seller told me that the speedo worked. But it hasn't since i bought it. I've been told to look for the transducer? They said its either on the motor or the back of the boat but i can't seem to find it. Any help would be appreciated.

You should have a small tube coming from the lower unit following the fuel lines and power cable into the boat. OR there is a small white fin looking do-hickey with a tube coming out of the top that is routed into the boat. One of those two are the air line for your speedometer.
