I'm no welder, and around here it costs a small fortune to have anything welded. I was surprised when I tried to get a new spindle welded on my old axle that nobody would touch it under $75. That and a new hub made it cheaper to just buy a full new axle. They are surprisingly cheap, my 3500# was about $120 complete with new hubs and shipping.

look close at the middle pic, bottom of the bearing, is that a gap under the bearing or am i seeing things?
