I need some help guys, I have a 76 Harris Flot Bote pontoon with a OMC sterndrive. Last weekend it worked fine this weekend we dropped it into the lake and it throttles up and down the prop seems to spin faster and slower but either A. not fast enough to move the boat or B. is slipping. I am 45 min from the lake so i cant just try something and run it to see if it works sadly. Any suggestions on why this thing isnt moving? :grumpy:

I'm wondering if you spun the prop hub. Do you have another prop to try? Or a way to check your prop hub?

I pulled the prop itself off but couldnt get much deeper before dark. I will have to dig into the lower unit a bit later. Ive read a lot about couplers but m not really sure what im looking for. I just downloaded the manual to check out. How deep would i have to go before finding the prop hub?

The hub is in the prop itself. It's basically a portion of the hub that allows the propeller to spin free in the event that it jams up (hits a log, for example). That way, it (supposedly) doesn't jam up the entire drive train. I've not dealt with one ever, so I'm not 100% sure what to tell you to look for.

If your transmission will actually engage forward and reverse, I'd sit tight for a few moments on the lower unit. I'd concentrate on the prop hub first. The electric shift stringer is kinda' interesting critter in the transmission. There are a few other guys who know them better than I do, and they might have some suggestions as to what to look at after the prop hub.

Our prop is secured with a pin driven straight through it. If you remove the tip of the prop there is a pin that holds it onto the shaft. I have not dug any deeper because the next set of screws are pretty stuck but there are definitely no bearings in this prop if you hit something there will be breakage elsewhere in the lower unit.$T2eC16N,!)8E9s4l6bt!BRWvIS!nU!~~60_12.jpg$T2eC16Z,!ysE9sy0i2WDBRWvIKw1DQ~~60_12.jpg Any other suggestions?

Is there any possibility this could be an electrical issue. We recently put new carpet in and pulled the helm out. I only wired back up the tach. The engine tilt nd of course the ignition.
