I've removed all that is shown here and am in the process of redecking pretty much like the old but I plan to close in a front and rear casting deck with storage compartments and a livewell. Do I need to make a splash well in the casting deck for the motor or can I have the casting deck flat to the transom? I thought about running the controls up out of the deck through this.

So long as it's solid. The boat seems big enough so you won't make thing tipsy way up there, why so high, you trying to fish Tarp's?

You might saturate the hole cut outs with CPES for your controls.

It won't be so high. From the floor to the top of the gunnels is about 17". The console shown in the boat's pic is now at a Marine Salvage in St. Pete traded for supplies. I now have a typical CC like this that will be installed.

Maybe this is a better picture of my boat to judge the transom height. It is 23" at center.

Why did you get rid of the big one...sure would give you lot's of cover in big wake or storm. You planning on staying in the back water? Or would this prevent the platform in the front?

As for spashwell...you just going to create a notch for the motor mounts? Might get kinda tight or were you going to mount the motor on a backplate (right term?) away from the transom?

you have to have clearance to be able to tilt the motor. if you have it go for it.

Re: Splash Well ?

The old "Roman Chariot" console ate up too much space for my liking and would have forced a smaller deck on both front and rear. My goal is a flats type boat to run shallow waters. I've thought about a motor bracket jack plate style of setup but that adds to the cost of a 2+ year project held up by $$$. I had not considered the motor's need for space so my best bet might be to form a splash well to accomodate the motor. Thanks for the input!
