Splicing wire in transducer?

I have an Eagle Fisheasy2 portable fish finder with gray connectors. It works well but the transducer cable is too short for my boat and the unit won't reach the dash.
I have contacted Eagle but they say it's obsolete and won't tell me what extension cord will work. I have been looking at the LEI XT-12X extension cord but was just told recently that it won't work.
It looks like there is seven conductors on this wire, can I just splice (solder and heat-shrink) a new section in to get the length I need?

Thats exactly how it's done. It's a 7 conductor foil shielded cable. It's pretty easy stuff to deal with if you have soldering skills. Othewise I would recommend using a break out box and terminate the ends at a terminal block instead of soldering together.

Here is the cross refence list to get the wiring diagram number for the transducer
