I'm trying to come up with a game plane to replace my transom. I think I need to remove the cap of the boat.

Due you think removing just the back of the cap is ok?

I plan on just removing forward from the transom, just behinde what seems to me a "rib" that would have some kind of structural function. I'm thinknig this "rib" will keep it from twisting or something like that.

What do you think?

Thanks

Do you have any pictures of it? I know with my boat, due to its configuration, it would have ben impossable to remove the whole cap.
I cut mine just forward of the splashwell, and just removed that section to gain access

Just remember any structure you remove needs to be replaced in a way that makes it stronger than it was originally.
