total waste of money. proved it to a sales rep on the dyno one day with a 89 150 evinrude. we had just completed a carb job and tune up when he showed up. did another dyno run while he watched, put his high dollar plugs in and did another with no recordable difference. gave him is high doller plugs back.

The split fire plugs were made to last longer with bad rings or other problems. Mainly for automotives not for marine use.

I have an auto repair text that covers the electric systems, it was printed in 1927. It has a full page of spark plug electrode designs. You would be hard pressed to come up with one that is'nt shown.

Thanks for the responses.

I received a box from a client and he suggested I use them in my Mercury.

I've used them previously in an old Bug that had a severe oil consumption problem and they were alright, but as I remember it, I had better luck with rimfire plugs.

If you try them make sure you have proper clearance. Tim

I wouldn't try them in a loop-charged outboard or a direct-charged Merc. Crossflow Okay, but I doubt you'd notice any difference.
