I have a 1978 K craft 19 foot bass boat made in tennesee ( I guess they are out of business) need to remove the top half in order to replace the deck and also the stuff below that. I found out the top half is sealed to the bottom, so I need to cut the top off and am wondering what is the best way to do this and the best tool to use?

Have a look in the restoration section of the forum; probably more info there that you can handle!

Re: splitting bass boat

Welcome to iboats!

Yes, it is a PITA but it can be done. Most manufacturers used small amounts of glue, resin and who knows to seal the cap too the hull.

People have used wide blade putty knives and any other tools.... the majority of the time it takes a mallet and a few friends.

Re: splitting bass boat

Not familiar with your boat but I split an Arrow Glass a while back.

Under the rub rail were many screws, and then glue but the glue was so old it was not much of a problem.

This boat had hand rails roughly center so a couple 2x4s and 3 buddys made short work of the lift.

Yep it was a PITA but not near as difficult as I had feared.
