1984 115 hp Johnson outboard TLCRD
Engine ran fine, I hit a rock and chewed up the 4 blade alum prop. Made it back to home and put old 3 blade alum prop on
Engine went from running fine on lake next day(45 minutes) to reduced power without touching throttle. Engine seemed to slowly reduce in power until I throttle back and reapply. Engine power would reduce then jump back up for a while. Next day, Engine difficult to start unless choke all the way.
Low power with throttle at 3/4 then without touching throttle the engine would power up suddenly then seconds later power down without touching throttle.
I later discovered I was putting too much oil in gas- closer to 40: 1 ratio than 50:1.
Its a VRO fuel pump and I just plugged the oil outlet and mix the gas.
Is it possible too much oil caused this.
Engine completely rebuilt except alternator and regulator.
Fuel pump and hoses are new a year ago. Old Fuel pump still worked but leaked around gasket.
