I am having a proplem getting my pressure tank bulb to pump up and hold pressure. Once I get the engine started and the pressure builds in the tank no more problem. Just hard to start without primer pressure.

You say 'bulb'? There is no bulb on the hose for a pressure tank. It is a little black or silver button on the tank that is used to pump fuel to the carb before the pressure builds up once the engine is running. Is this what you have? Also the cap must be tight for the system to work.

Agreed. The conversion is the best option unless you want to "rebuild" the tank. The seals go bad. I think kits are still available? Haven't checked, as of late.

I've got two pressure tanks and I ain't partin' with em. And, plenty of 2-line hose.:D

I also have extra rebuild kits that I'm holding onto for my 1957 Evin. 7.5. 20 years from now, I'll still have the "original".;)

Seriously, the conversion is the way to go.

I have a small black button that you push to prime the fuel system. It will not hold pressure.....

then you need the rebuild kit for the tank with plastic button. there are 2 different kits. black plastic button, silver metal button. laingsoutboards.com has the kits. what motor do you have? the kit is much cheaper than the conversion.

Be advised the tank rebuild kits don't contain the gasket for the fuel gauge window p# 302571 or the gasket for the fuel cap p# 301835. My understanding is they're still available from OMC/BRP although the dealers probably won't stock them. The rebuild kits do contain o rings for the fuel connector though. You might want to get a new double line hose from laings as well. The original brass crimp style hose clamps p# 301822 are still supposed to be available too in case yours are missing and you're a stickler for authenticity.

it doesn't matter what motor you have as either style tank will work. Look at your tank and see if it has a plastic or a metal button. That is the difference.
