Spray On Bedliner to Replace Marine Carpet??

My soon to arrive pontoon has marine grade carpet over the decking. Since I plan on doing a LOT of fishing from the boat, replacing the carpet with vinyl flooring would make clean up a lot easier. I'm aware that you can powerwash the marine carpet, but it can be tough getting blood stains, slime and fish guts out of carpeting, especially once it's set in, ie, baked in the sun all day while I'm on the water. Replacing the deck covering is a future project, but I'm looking for some opinions. I have been considering perhaps having a spray-on bedliner type covering put on. You can get it in just about any colour you want and have non-skid aggregate in the mixture so that slipping shouldn't be a problem. Anyone have any experience in using this product as a replacement for the marine carpet? It's not a cheap option...best quote I have received so far is $15 per sq ft. My boat is 20' x 8.5', so obviously, "cheap" is not a term that will come into the equation.

Last fall I was looking for an cheaper and better way to seal my roof on my mobile home down at the beach. It has a metal roof. I found this roof coating at lowesIt's black and it went on with a rollar. I had some left over so when I got home I tried it on my driveway. It's rubberized so why not try it. It filled in the cracks pretty good some of them I had to fill a couple of times. So far it's held up really good both on my metal roof and my driveway. It cost $35.00 to $0.00 for five gallons. If my truck can drive over it every day I bet your smelly fish would be ok to use it on. Remember to remove the carpet first. .You can always use it as a waterproofer if you deciced to put more carpet on later. It dries in a couple of hours.

I am in a similar situation as I bought a new pontoon but my wife insisted on carpet ( did not like the looks of snap-in carpet) I am thinking of installing interlocking flooring over my carpet when I fish and removing it when we go boating with the family. It is fairly inexpensive and comes in different colors. The company pictured is called getrung.com. I have also had the idea of trying to hold down vinyl with velcro "snap-in vinyl"( just the opposite of snap-in carpet ) but have not figured out how to do it.

That's actually a really good idea!! It would certainly be a lot cheaper than the spray on liner or a vinyl upgrade. The beauty of that is that you can easily remove it when you're done fishing. Thanks for the advice!!

My Hubby and I replaced the decking on our pontoon boat last summer. Same scenario with the blood and guts so we definatley didn't cover with carpet. We painted it with the garage floor epoxy and did the paint chips on top so it wouldn't be slick while wet. 1 year later and it still looks good and is so easy to clean. We just spray it off with the water hose.
