Two sure signs today.

1. My plum tree burst into bloom.

2. Users on the site passed 400.

The first sign of spring I notice is Crocus blooming. I have seen it peek through February snow in years past. I have not seen any yet. I know I have a few behind the veggie garden.

I am taking advantage of the relatively good weather to (start to) spruce things up around the place including starting work on one of the boats. My son has been helping this past weekend which will save me a trip to my chiropractor.

Re: Spring is near

All the launch parking lots I passed last Sunday were full of trucks and trailers. There were several places where trucks were lined up down the side of the road too (bank fishermen). I guess the Crappie bite is on now.

When the dogwoods bloom here the hybrids head up into the shoals. It's incredible fishing but I seem to miss it every year because that's about the same time the boat restore bug hits me.

Yup it's coming.:)

I read this with a tear in my eye....... as I look at the outside temperature .... it is 20 degrees with an anticipated high of 29 today.

I do notice the days getting longer ;) if that counts.

I haven't noticed Spring yet. 4-8" of snow expected tonight through tomorrow. Not good boating weather unless you are into ice boating, and even then the snow just slows you down. Need a giant Zamboni! Now that would be fun.

Spent the w/e at the river with one of the Grandsons. Must have seen 15-20 Bass boats going up & down the river. It's not here yet but I think it's really close:D

Yep, spring is definitely in the air around here. My pollen allergies really started beating me up last week.

The small black cherry trees I transplanted a couple months ago have leaves out now, as do the baby trees I planted about the same time.

Temps were in the 70s for the most part of last week, but only briefly each day. Dropped into the 40s overnight last night and I have the heat on this morning... for a little while anyway. :D

Re: Spring is near

From what I have read over past months, you blokes deserve a good early spring. I hope you get it.

When I hear people talking about spring I start imagining all the colours of the blossums and their beauty.....mind you i do the same when you talk of autumn...and when someone posts pictures (like happened here last time) I sort of get jealous, as I would like to experience it again.

I came from New Zealand, so I can remember seasons, but my young bloke has no idea what-so-ever.
In grade 7, they went for a 1 week trip to Canberra, and to a ski field to experience snow...only time in his life he has had to dress like that: ..."and my nose and toes got cold!!".

Re: Spring is near

Went out a couple of weeks ago just to blow the dust off the boat and stir the lake up a bit. Was only mid 50's but not bad. Problem is, it made the cabin fever worse.
Then, if that's wasn't bad enough, I still have to get on boats (in the shop with the heater on) to fix them and get others boats ready.
I may have to go buy a new Merc 4 stroke 60HP EFI, just to get the taste of winter out of my mouth. I'm sure I can find one on ebay for $500

It is tough to get the boat in when there is feet of ice on most lakes around here right now. Ice fishing season is only another 43 days. Then we wait for ice out. Could be May for some of the lakes here this year. Its only February and this winter seams really long. Come on ice out. The longer days of sunlight help the outlook on life.
