how can you tell if your prop has a replacable hub? I have a 94 evinrude 115 with a Stainless steel prop that says 13x19. Just wondering how to tell if I can fix it or have to replace it thanks.

Re: spun hub

If you've had the prop for a few years it's probably the old pressed in style. Take the prop off and look from the front. If the prop has a square bore you have a replacable hub prop. If it isn't square then it has to be pressed out and replaced at a prop shop.

Yeah its not square. But it is fixable? That sure would be alot nicer that buying a new one.

it's fixable, I had one spin on me a few years ago. The shop will press out the old insert and install a new one.

Re: spun hub

If I have a press is it something easy to do? and if I must take it to a shop surely it would be cheaper than buying a new prop right? thanks for the input.

Re: spun hub

First, you need the correct replacement hub assembly. 2, no, it's not just pressing the old hub out. There's a cleaning process and an adhesive process during the press fit. As for price, unless you have an older worn down prop, in most cases it will be "roughly" 50% of the cost of a new prop in aluminum, less in some cases.
