Re: spun hub
Spun hub has nothing to do with the lower unit ... it's the black rubber hub with a splined hub, which is pressed into the center of the prop. The hub is spun when it rotates in the prop bore (not supposed to do that). Fix is simple and not too expensive: take prop to a prop shop and they can press in a new hub.<br /><br />Symptom is simple. Engine RPM's in gear increase with no increase in boat speed. This assumes an outboard, rather an I/O. In the case of an I/O there is also a coupler, which can fail with the same symptom. In either case, confirmation is easy. Mark both hub and the prop with a magic marker, run motor until symptom occurs and check the mark. If no longer together, hub is spun.
