I recently took my 18foot 84 Stratos with Mariner 150 out with its SS prop and when I go into forward gear it goes into gear like a normal outboard going forward, but then with a little gas kicks, like something is slipping and then catching (like in a car popping a clutch feeling). It only does this on a new start from a dead stop and stop while under way and runs great at wide open throttle shakes at low rpms in "no wake zones"
would this be a symptom of a spun hub skipping a beat on take off or something worse?
*The entire boat structure is new and has no wear on transom or kicker braces
