Does anyone know of any website that offers a free spyware check?
I downloaded Spywarebot and they checked my computer for free but want cash from me to get rid of the spyware. What's up with that?

Some of those "free scan" sites are little more that "free spam" sites.
Some don't even ASK you if you want to scan your computer -- they just do it ...And then, they find so many bugs and infections you feel like putting gloves on just to touch the keyboard again!

Best advice is to subscribe to a good virus/spyware monitor like CA. Stear-clear of Symantec (Norton) tho, as they are currently selling software (right off the rack no less) that is not stable, and just throws more monkey wrenches into the gear train.

I use AD-WARE from Lavasoft daily but use AGV FREE as a anti virus it works great and is free along with their spyware if you want to down load them

Yup, AdAware SE, CCleaner, and AVG anti-virus on my Windows rigs here too. Between those three, I've been able to keep my computers pretty clean. Watching what webistes you surf helps too...that spyware garbage just keeps getting sneakier everyday!

It works great and there are no strings attached.

When my local web dudes couln't get rid of a problem (shaw.ca) they had me do a scan from safe mode (windows xp) using this site....100% clean now!
